Rare Mac Lipstick: Scream 2

I am going to tell you about this lipstick but I need a promise of no judgement because it has been in my collection for the longest time. When I explain why you may understand but it is still pretty grim that I use this!
My brother used to work at Disney/Buena Vista and when Scream 2 was released in the UK (in 1997!!!) the opportunity arose for employees to get their hands on this MAC lipstick which was created for the film. Being a loving brother he picked one up for me. At the time I absolutely hated it. It was kind of my go-to Halloween lippie as I applied it in one fail swoop which makes it very dark. When my brother died I kept hold of everything he ever gave me - this seems to be a part of my grieving process.I still have perfumes given to me by my great aunt who died in 1997! - and I'm glad I did now as I love it.
Now I have learnt how to apply lipstick properly and blend a little if a colour is too dark for me, I absolutely adore this shade. It is a beautiful cranberry colour which, although not perfect for this time of year, looks AMAZING in autumn/winter. It is very old but as yet I haven't fallen ill from using it.

The packaging is quite old for this lipstick and it doesn't have which formula it is but it is very long-wearing. It feels like a cremesheen but I can't be sure. If anyone knows anything about this lipstick I'd be really interested to know as I have been unable to find anything online.

Do you have any rare beauty items in your collection?

April Wish List

I am coveting a few things this month. I have already gone a bit OTT on beauty products (as per) so am trying to pinch my pennies. A girl can still dream though, right? Here's what's on the list:

1. Michael Kors Watch, Shadestation.co.uk, £153.35 What's not to love about this watch? The rose gold? The cobalt face? I'm not really a watch person (I tell the time by the position of the Sun - haha!) but I would quite happily wear this little time piece.

2. Leather Slip-Ons, LK Bennett, £150 I love these for summer. The nude and lime print makes the perfect print for spring while the shape of the shoe looks super comfy. If only they were a smidge cheaper I might be able to justify them.

3. Cosmetics Purse, M&S, £5 What a bargain! I have no concept of how big this purse is so it could be diddy but the description says cosmetics purse which implies that it will be bigger than a coin purse. I love the bold orange print of this - perfect for summer. I tend to use things like this as little going out purses when I pop to the shops or go out for an evening without needing to take much with me.

4. White Top, Mango, £29.99 I love this top for summer. The huge sleeves make it look as though it will keep you cool while the high collar and nipped in waist make it smart enough for work. One to buy for the office me thinks.

5. Lip Colour in Incorrigible, Tom Ford, £36 This is waaaay more than I would spend on a lipstick but I just love the packaging of Tom Ford beauty products, especially this white and gold summer collection. This colour is beautiful too - a lovely, vivid coral.

6. Chanel Eye Shadow Quad I cannot find any info about this quad online. I think I must be searching for the wrong thing. I imagine it is about £40 which is more than I plan to spend on eyeshadow anytime soon but it is a pretty beautiful set.

7. Sequin Shoppers, £275 each, Ashish These are so kitsch - I frickin' love 'em. I particularly like the S&M one as green is my favourite colour and it looks super sparkly. However, £275 is excessive for a fancy plastic bag.

8. Touche Eclat Wild Edition, YSL, £25 I love a bit of TE and it's made even better with a touch of leopard print.

Obsession: Micellar Waters

The first Micellar Water I purchased was the B.Pure version from Superdrug. I picked this up on a whim as it was next to the counter and I thought I would give it a go without really knowing what a Micellar Water was. From that moment on I have been hooked.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Micellar Waters they have the feeling of a toner but contain oil that cleanses the skin. To use them you just soak a cotton pad and swipe across the face and eyes. The best of Micellar Waters will remove most make-up without too much effort. You don't need to rinse, just throw away the cotton pad and moisturise as normal. I use them in addition to my L'Oreal Skin Perfection Miracle Cleansing Oil as I don't find them enough on their own.

The versions I've tried are: Vichy Normaderm Micellar Solution, L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution, B. Pure Micellar Water, Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Solution. I am currently using Avene's Cleanance Cleansing Water.

My favourite of the five is the Avene one. I have found that my spotty skin has cleared up since using it and it seems to be quite potent without drying or aggravating my sensitive skin. The others have been good in their own ways. The B.Pure was my pick of the budget ones (although I hear that the new Garnier version is a complete Bioderma dupe - it's next on my list) as it had good cleansing properties without being too wet - sounds stupid but the L'Oreal one comes out very quickly, completely soaking the cotton pad. The Bioderma product is probably the most hyped and it was good - it is my second fave - but the Avene one just pips it for the spot busting qualities.

Overall a big thumbs up!

Have you tried any Micellar Waters? What were your thoughts?
